Hey Bostonians – What About Boston Are You Thankful For This Thanksgiving?

As we all know, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we’re thankful for in life.  Which, got me thinking – as Bostonians, what are we thankful for in this great city that we call home?

So, I decided to do a little crowd-sourcing on Twitter to my @savvybostonian followers, plus I posted messages on my personal Facebook page and emailed a diverse group of Boston area friends so see what they would come up with.

The goal in posing this question was that anything goes. I wanted answers that were all over the board – from simple, to funny, sacrastic, or sentimental.  Lucky for me (and you), that’s exactly what I got.

From sweet to sassy, here is what a sample of your fellow Bostonians are thankful for this year:

I'm Thankful for dozens of trips to see the Red Sox play at Fenway Park

“I am so grateful for all the ways that the Boston area respects and cultivates the arts — especially dance, from the bright, airy ballet studios in the South End to the vaulted ceilings and stained glass studios in Harvard Square, and all the small spaces of joyful dance in between.” – Alex, Davis Square

“I am thankful that the HONG KONG in Faneuil Hall has reopened!” – Leia, Quincy

“I’m thankful for many things. Friends, family, health most important, but for Boston specifically it’s good restaurants. :)” – Justin, Brighton

“In Boston I’m thankful to the Boston Police Department (BPD)…especially a super sexy one from Downtown Crossing.” – Abby, West Roxbury

“I’m thankful for being able to walk anywhere, even if you live on the outskirts. In my humble opinion, the best way to really get a feel for a place is to walk it, especially when public transportation and parking can be somewhat unreliable! When you walk Boston you can sneak into the shops, restaurants and other nooks that give the city it’s flavor (which is especially important on a holiday centering around food!).” – Betsy, Brighton

I'm Thankful for Roommates who LOVE to Host Dinner Parties

“I’m Thankful that Logan airport put in full body scanners. If you don’t like getting scanned/ or frisked, don’t travel.I like my flights violence free.” – Chris, Chelsea

“The friendly nail salon staff at @MissMiniLuxe Miniluxe on Newbury St.” – Danielle, Boston

“‘I’m thankful for that 1 driver out of every 10 that is courteous enough to stop and let me take a left on a busy street.” – Wes, Brookline

“The gorgeous summer we had!! #thankfulbostonian” – Kim, Boston

“I’m thankful that I don’t have to live amongst too many Republicans!” – Dave, South End

—————————–

“I’m thankful that it hasn’t snowed yet – let’s keep up the mild weather!” – Kristen, Boston

“I’m thankful for the delicious soups from the Clover MIT food truck at lunch. Warm soup is so perfect when it’s cold and it’s always fun to see what new flavors they have. I love to get one to go with whatever I brought for lunch.” – Michelle, Brookline

I'm Thankful to Have an Apartment w/ Furniture - Though our No Furniture Dance Party was AMAZING!

“I am thankful that I am able to still fit into jeans that I purchased in college. Hate on haters!” – Ra, Brighton

So, What am I Thankful for in Boston?

My Back Bay neighbor Gideon said it the best when he told me that he’s, “Thankful for my continued health and good fortune this year.” I couldn’t agree more. I’m thankful for Boston for providing a wonderful venue for a fantastic life.  Between working for an iconic local brand, living in the heart of the city with a lovely set of roommates, and adventures around Boston with an amazing group of friends, I have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Happy Thanksgiving!
