Fashion Update: Wrentham Outlets

About forty minutes outside of Boston, Wrentham is a great day trip to take every few months.  Recently, I stopped in to search for a few last-minute winter purchases before the outlets go full-throttle into spring apparel.

Looking for black pointy-toed boots, I scored a great mid-calf pair at Nine West for $35!  They also had knee-high ones for $50 (about a 2 inch heel).  Off Sak’s had tons of Joe’s jeans, Theory had great basics on sale, and J.Crew made me want to jump headfirst into spring with it’s cheerful, preppy selections.

Quite possibly the most impressive of the day was the Coach outlet.  There were so many high-quality leather bags in great colors from tan, black, white, periwinkle blue, and sage green.  Similarly colored wristlets were super cheap, and passport holders, CD cases, mini travel pill cases, were all on sale (and make great gifts).

Outlets to skip included the GAP, Banana Replublic, Bebe and Arden B- they definitely need a refresher!

SavvyBostonian Tips:

  • Sign up for Wrentham’s VIP club online before you go!  It’s free, and you can print up a voucher for a discount book to redeem at the office when you arrive (next to food court, near off Sak’s/Barney’s end).
  • Grab your java fix at Dunkin Donuts on the way in- the coffee inside the outlets is not good!
  • As far as I know, bathrooms are on opposite ends- so is the best parking.
  • Get there early to avoid large crowds.

Channeling Your Inner Martha Just Got Easier!

Most women wish they could have even a tenth of the domestic goddess powers someone like Martha Stewart or Bree on Desperate Housewives flaunt.  Personally, I cannot clean to save my life, have a few good things I can cook, and can bake anything out of a box with pride.

For most of us non-Martha’s, we get by just fine 99% of the time.  However, when the occasional dinner party invite finds its way into our inbox, or we make plans create a fierce Superbowl Sunday spread, or decadent dessert for Valentine’s day we can thank Kraft for keeping us domestic wannabes in mind.

On Kraft.com, there is a completely free section of recipes- entrees, appetizers, desserts- you name it, and they have it- ripe for the taking.  If you want to go one step further, sign up for Kraft Food & Family’s FREE quarterly magazine, filled with seasonal recipes, and bright glossy pictures.

Sure, its a marketing scheme to get you to use their products when you rush to try that new dessert for an upcoming party, but when you go to their site and see recipes for the ultimate 7-layer dip, molten-middle truffle cookies, or the special healthy living section, you might just stop caring.  I did…..(maybe because my mouth was watering too much).

Maybe their football “MVP” menu combined with some beer will make me forget the Patriots are not in the Superbowl….tear…..

Outlet Roadtrip Anyone?

Between the crisp fall air, vibrant foliage, and the need for the perfect sweater to keep yourself fashionably toasty, why not take a roadtrip to kill two birds with one stone?  I found this great website by surfing around Boston.com, and it lists ALL the outlets around New England.  Headed up to New Hampshire to visit Aunt Grace, or down to Connecticut for a boring work conference?  Make the most of your travels, or embark on an adventure with the potential for a great wardrobe find!

Savvy Tip: Visit the outlet’s website and see what types of promotions/sales are going on before you travel.  For example, at the Wrentham Outlets in Massachusetts, they allow you to print out a free VIP Coupon Book voucher, which you redeem onsite, giving you access to special coupons.  Just like the VIP we all know you are!

Happy Travels!
