Though I’ve been snapping photos for ages, this image from the water is especially important because it also serves as The SavvyBostonian blog header. Taken during May 2005 just before I graduated from college, I was in Boston enjoying a Duck Tour with a dear friend from out of town. It was a sunny and warm day and we strolled over the city, from the Back Bay, to Newbury Street, Beacon Hill, the Public Garden. Oh, and the Duck Tour was pretty fun too! Definitely a must-do for tourists and locals alike.
BOSTON
As an equal opportunity foodist, I’ve been hearing and reading about the health benefits of green juice for ages. While in Whole Foods, I stumbled upon BluePrint’s Raw Green Juice featuring a healthy-sounding mix of kale, apple, ginger, romaine, spinach, cucumber, parsley and lemon and couldn’t help but wonder….but how does it taste?
The answer – not terrible, but definitely not great. It tastes, well, like you might expect a healthy green juice to taste. It’s mild enough and the mix is well done so that none of the ingredients are overpowering, but I’m not sure it was for me. I actually found that adding a small splash of agave helped. But, at the $10 (yikes) price tag at Whole Foods, I probably won’t be hopping on the green juice revolution. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing which is supplementing my frozen berry and banana smoothies with spinach, kale, Vega One and/or other green goodies. Not as nutritionally sound, but pretty darn tasty.
However, BluePrint also has other juice varieties that feature beets, etc., so I may have to try something a little less intimidating next time…
Despite living in the Boston area since 2001, I’ve never seen the city get this much snow all at once. Once the snow stopped falling, I joined many Bostonians in walking around the city to take in the magnitude of the blizzard. Here are some of my photos.
Brrrrr…..baby it’s cold outside! Despite to cold temperatures, Boston is still just as beautiful as ever. I snapped the photo here during a wintry stroll at dusk along the Commonwealth (“Comm”) Ave. path in the Back Bay. The bare trees, accented by festive lights and snow, offer a scenic backdrop worth sharing. As someone who loves pausing to enjoy the beauty in the everyday, I hope that you’ll enjoy this photo as well.
Is it me, or does Boston seem especially photogenic these days? As I went about my usual weekend routine, I happened to snap these two photos – first as I strolled through the Public Garden en route to Downtown Crossing for a little T.J. Maxx and H&M retail therapy. The second was as I walked back to the Park Street T Stop. When life offers you a beautiful sunset, you absolutely need to cherish the moment.
