Though I’ve been snapping photos for ages, this image from the water is especially important because it also serves as The SavvyBostonian blog header. Taken during May 2005 just before I graduated from college, I was in Boston enjoying a Duck Tour with a dear friend from out of town. It was a sunny and warm day and we strolled over the city, from the Back Bay, to Newbury Street, Beacon Hill, the Public Garden. Oh, and the Duck Tour was pretty fun too! Definitely a must-do for tourists and locals alike.
Back Bay
Despite living in the Boston area since 2001, I’ve never seen the city get this much snow all at once. Once the snow stopped falling, I joined many Bostonians in walking around the city to take in the magnitude of the blizzard. Here are some of my photos.

Really happy this isn’t my car! This is what many Bostonians who parked on the street had to deal with following the storm.
Brrrrr…..baby it’s cold outside! Despite to cold temperatures, Boston is still just as beautiful as ever. I snapped the photo here during a wintry stroll at dusk along the Commonwealth (“Comm”) Ave. path in the Back Bay. The bare trees, accented by festive lights and snow, offer a scenic backdrop worth sharing. As someone who loves pausing to enjoy the beauty in the everyday, I hope that you’ll enjoy this photo as well.
As the famous Ferris Bueller’s Day Off movie quote goes, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Despite always being on the go, I think I did a pretty good job carving out time for amazing food, time with friends, plus other adventures and experiences in 2012. From playing tourist in my hometown, to channeling my inner Martha Stewart, to personal and professional travels, here are 12 photos which celebrate 2012 and a little background behind them.
