Good Reads: Your First Hour At Work & How To Introduce Yourself

Each week I’m reading, absorbing, learning and sharing. Two articles I shared recently on Twitter which focus on being the best version of yourself generated a big response. One article, from Fast Company, delves into what successful people do during their first hour at work. Fashion: La Mer Wrap Watches

When it comes to watches, I seek out timepieces that are unique. Though I’m still religiously wearing my beloved black dual face watch from Urban Outfitters, a $50 credit to Rue La La burning a hole in my pocket resulted in the discovery of La Mer’s wrap watches. With a void in my wardrobe for a watch that would match browns, whites and beiges, I quickly snapped up a tan wrap watch from a La Mer sale on Rue La La. Accented with gold (my favorite!), it fits my super tiny wrist, and has a Roman numeral watch face that I adore. Though it’s become a fixture in my wardrobe and has received its fair share of compliments, the only con I would point out is the gold chain tarnished very quickly, making it a little more maintenance than I had hoped for. As a lover of unique watches, read more for a few similar ones (sans chain) from La Mer, to add a little flair to your wardrobe.

Event: A Sneak Peek Inside GE’s Booth at CollegeFest

It’s been more than seven years since I was in college, but I imagine it’s the kind of event you’d want to attend if you were still in school – e.g. live music and tons of exhibitors/booth’s promising interesting experiences and freebies. One of those exhibitors, GE, emailed me a sneak peek of their booth that will be outside on the plaza adjacent to the Prudential Center/Hynes Convention Center and said I could share it on my blog. I think GE’s experiential approach to celebrating innovation through marketing and social media is something we can all appreciate and learn from. So, read more for a sneak peek at what they have going on.
