One of my geeky pleasures is testing new skincare. With so many new products constantly coming out, it’s easy to get FOMO when it comes to your skincare regime and ensuring that you are using the best products for your skin. I recently discovered the Murad Advanced Active Radiance Serum and wanted to share my honest review of the product. Full disclosure: I purchased this product myself.

It’s that time again – time for another round-up of new skincare hits and misses! If you’re a regular reader of The SavvyBostonian, you will know that I’m a beauty and makeup junkie. What’s the famous line about not knowing what you’ve got until it’s gone? Well, as an expat living abroad in London, you don’t realize all of the random things you love until they’re no longer available for purchase in your country. For example, when your favorite eye cream is not for sale in the UK and the prospect of buying it comes with a $30 shipping fee. Or, when UK/EU laws for skincare mean they cannot sell a specific formulation of a coveted serum – but they will in the U.S.!? Or, how about that cheap but oh-so-lovely eye pencil that you just cannot find a replacement for in the UK? I could go on – and I’m sure every expat can relate, whether it’s makeup, skincare, food or others.
Inspired by what I cannot have in the UK, here are four of my U.S. favorites for skincare and makeup that I just cannot live without and had to purchase while stateside for the Christmas holiday.
Confession: I am a beauty and skincare junkie. I love trying new products. I never say no to a free sample or free gift with purchase. Free samples are especially clutch when you travel as much as I do. Here are five recent products – serums, moisturizers and primers – that I have tried out from Estée Lauder, Dr. Dennis Gross and Caudalie. What would I re-purchase and recommend? What didn’t make the cut? Read on!
Though I adore treating myself to a proper manicure, there’s not always time. Luckily, I continue to amass a fabulous collection of nail polish. I love the nude nail polish trend, but wasn’t sure the best shade to select to pair with my, erm, super pale complexion. Thankfully, a friend took the guess work out of the equation by gifting me Sephora’s Nonfat Soy Half Caff nail color (you know how I love my coffee!). A few shades darker than my skin tone, the color comes off as a stylish nude shade that’s perfectly professional. I prefer it on my finger nails to toenails. In terms of wear, I sometimes find that it chips before the end of the week with three coats on, but the shade color makes it easy to hide!
The shade is available in store or on Sephora.com.
