As this photo proves, there’s even beauty in a grey day. Snapped during a walk from Kendall Square to the Back Bay, I love how the pop of color from the boats perfectly compliments the shades of grey.
BOSTON
In the spirit of sharing a good deal, please allow me to introduce you to Tapeo in Boston. Tapeo is a fantastic Spanish style tapas restaurant on Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay with a lovely outdoor patio, interior seating and bar area. While it’s almost irresistible not to sit on their great patio on a nice summer day, the $15 per person minimum is not always ideal when you just want a little snack. Enter, the $5 tapas menu at the bar.
The menu at the bar changes frequently, but always seems to have a list of Tapeo’s famous standby’s. The best part is that they’re the same size as their full priced counterparts. I met a friend on a Sunday evening and we had quite a budget-friendly feast!
While I have walked by Intimacy in Boston’s Copley Place Mall many times, I had never been inside, until now. Invited as part of a media day, I had the opportunity to learn about how bra fit styling differentiates Intimacy from other lingerie shops.
Despite having a blog called “The SavvyBostonian,” it’s rare that I’m actually in Boston for July 4th. For six years, I went to a friend’s place up in Conway, New Hampshire and then last year I was galavanting around London. And yes, I do see the irony of being in London on July 4th. This year, all of that changed. With vacation time allocated to other trips, I found myself celebrating July 4th in Boston and then back to work the next day.
Holed up in my apartment all day working on a big project (more on that later!), I almost didn’t go out to celebrate. Luckily, at the last minute a friend called with an opportunity to come up on an incredible roof deck just steps from where I live. Let’s just say that it doesn’t get any better than a glass of sparking rose, good friends, a great view and live streaming the Boston Pops on someone’s iPhone w/ speakers while the fireworks went on. Check out my two videos from the event – originally shared via my savvybostonian Vine account – to see them for yourself!
I’m currently in the middle of what’s inarguably the busiest time in my life. So much to do and so little time, but it’s all for a very good reason (more on that in the coming weeks!). So, while many flee the city for Memorial Day Weekend, I hunkered down at home to work on my latest project. But, as the old adage goes – all work and no play makes The SavvyBostonian a dull girl, so I did enjoy a few simple delights over the weekend. From strolls, to a bit of shopping and cooking, here are a few highlights from a relaxed Memorial Day Weekend.
