With Election Day fast-approaching on November 2, there’s no time like the present to figure out whether you’re registered to vote and your designated polling location. After a little googling and digging on various city websites, I’ve located three useful sites from the city of Boston that will help determine if and where you can vote tomorrow.
To Determine if You’re Registered to Vote and Your Designated Polling Location:
Last night, my beloved digital camera met its maker. I had just arrived at a Halloween soiree and was snapping photos with friends. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked the guy in the zebra print spandex to take my photo. Maybe I shouldn’t have been holding onto a very full beverage when I was handed back the camera. Lots of different scenarios have played out in my mind, but ultimately my digital camera looks like a goner.
The photo to the left was taken on my BlackBerry Bold (3.2 megapixels, baby!). And, yes, it’s a container filled with rice and my camera. According to my roommate, “soaking” a camera in a container filled with rice is a way to remove the moisture and may help bring your camera back to life. So far, I haven’t been able to resuscitate it using this method. But, I’m willing to keep it in there longer and see if it could help.

Hey Bostonians, are you ready for all the crazies to come out? After a week of putting the final touches on our costumes and attending ghoulishly themed events, the wait for Halloween is finally over! Whether you’re at a house party, or painting the town orange and black, here are a few savvy tips for your Halloween weekend:
(1) If You’re Going to a Halloween Party, Wear a Costume (and a Jacket):
I hear all of you Halloween haters scoffing at me, but deep down you know that I’m right. If you’re not going to a party, or staying at home to dole out candy to the kiddies, fine; don’t wear a costume. But, if you are going to a Halloween themed nightlife event, you’ve gotta make an effort. And, you may also want to consider a jacket because it’s going to be much chillier tonight than it was last year! Time for another fabulous Boston weekend. With November nipping at our heels and the cold weather not too far behind, I’m making it my mission to be outside as much as possible before phrases like “snow,” “wind chill,” and “below zero” become the norm. As a result? This weekend I’m embracing outdoor events that I can also walk to.
Here are my top picks for the weekend in Boston. Walking to them is completely optional:
Gardner After Hours, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
On Thursday, October 21, pop over to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum at 5:30 p.m. for an evening of art, cocktails and music. Officially called Gardner After Hours, this special event occurs on the third Thursday of every month and attracts a variety of hip Bostonians who enjoy the opportunity to mix and mingle in the museum’s unique, inviting atmosphere.
This month’s theme, Rhythm Muse, will take guests on a musical journey through several genres, including Brazilian in the courtyard and jazz from the Mark Whitfield Jr. Quartet in the museum’s Tapestry Room. As a result, tickets to this month’s After Hours are $12 to the public ($5 for students) for general admission, but raise to $23 for entry into the jazz concert in the Tapestry Room ($10 for students), which begins at 7:00 p.m.. Inside, there will be a cash bar and nibbles from the The Gardner Café.
With the museum taking a break from the popular After Hours series in 2011 as the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum prepares to open a new wing in 2012, there’s no time like the present to experience this gorgeous museum after dark!
