Does anyone else ever experience ‘a perfect storm’ leading into Christmas? As in, a million things to do at work, packing to travel for the holiday and purchasing those all-important last-minute gifts. No matter how organized I try to be, it hits me every year! Then, add in the fact that I have a birthday the week before Christmas on December 17. Despite all the craziness, here’s a few recent highlights to share – a festive stroll through Marylebone and how I celebrated my birthday!
Highlight #1: A Festive Stroll Through Marylebone
I’ve said it before and I will say it again – London is magical at Christmas time. Every neighborhood in London brings something special to the table and for good reason. It gets dark at 3:30 pm, so thankfully we have so many Christmas lights and festive decor to enjoy! Here are a few photos from Marylebone.

Marylebone High Street is so cute any time of the year – but at Christmas, it sparkles that much more.
Highlight #2: Celebrating My Birthday
Confession: I’m not a big birthday person. Throughout my life, people’s holiday parties have conflicted with my birthday, which is one week before Christmas on December 17. As a result, it’s always been annoying and unpredictable to plan a birthday celebration for myself with friends. As a result, I’ve shifted more towards doing something for myself on the day – usually a spa day. This year was no different, I booked an indulgent massage for myself, which was lovely.
In addition, thanks to the nudging of my wonderful friends, I also booked a table at one of my favorite cozy pubs in Marylebone, The Cavendish. With oversized G&Ts and many good friends, I had the perfect evening.
Final Thoughts
When life gets busy, the little things mean that much more. Whether it’s a festive stroll, a simple but lovely birthday celebration or even time spent with good friends, this week I savored the little things – and it made all the difference.
