Time flies when you’re having fun! With longer days and warmer weather in London, I spent lots of time outside. I also traveled more than usual with a weekend jaunt to Bruges in Belgium, followed by a week in Boston, Connecticut and NYC, all before coming back to London for the Bank Holiday weekend. Here are my photo highlights!
The month started in the best possible way – with a good run through Regent’s Park on a sunny day in the 70s. Half of the park is in full bloom – now I’m just waiting for the Queen Mary’s Rose Garden to bloom.
I also went to the Canalway Cavalcade at Little Venice, which was incredibly fun. It’s a waterway festival that has been taking place at London’s Little Venice since 1983. All of the house boats get ‘dressed up’ and many have clever themes. There is also a festival with plenty of food, crafts and more to wander through.
I mean, how cute is the Noah’s Ark themed house boat?
Speaking of canals, I also took an epic trip to Bruges in Belgium, a charming town known for its medieval buildings, cobbled streets, canals, chocolate, beer and mussels. I’ll do a full write-up soon on the blog, but until then, check out how stunning it is!
Several days later, I hopped on a plane to Boston, where I spent the weekend catching up with friends and family. Here I am with my friend Shahrzad, who is an amazing jewelry designer – check out her gorgeous merchandise! Here we are pictured atop the Envoy Hotel, which seriously has one of the best roofdecks in Boston.
Then, it was off to NYC for the week for work. After several days of hard work, my fabulous co-author of The Power of Visual Storytelling, Ekaterina Walter, and I took a nice stroll through Central Park one evening. Even when on business trips, it’s important to stay active and decompress a bit. A walk in Central Park on a warm night was JUST what we needed!
After a great week in the USA, it was back to London for a long weekend.
While most of my friends were off traveling for the Bank Holiday weekend, I did have a few friends visiting from Boston. It was fun to play tourist in my new ‘hometown.’
The beautiful wysteria in the garden outside of St. Paul’s Cathedral. We also went inside, but you unfortunately cannot take photos, so I guess you will just have to go see it for yourself, or visit their website!
I also went for a fantastic lunch at Dishoom in Shoreditch. My friend wanted to try Indian food and Dishoom is always a great option. Add in the lovely covered terrace (pictured) and it made for a great meal.
After, we walked all over Shoreditch and Brick Lane to check out some of the local street art. We used the Hackney Post’s guide as our base and with a little help from Google Maps, we saw some nice pieces.
All in all, May was a fantastic month and I’m excited to jump into the summer season in London and Europe!
