In preparation for my 2015 move to London, I hopped over for a few days in December. While London may not seem like a typical travel destination in December, I’ve been fortunate enough to be over around my annual LeWeb Paris trip for a few years in a row and can tell you that it’s delightful. There’s just something about the Christmas holiday that results in an incredible amount of festive decor and activities, from markets, to teas and grand trees in well-known squares.
Here are some highlights from my visit:
Christmas Tea At The Ritz
One of the highlights of this visit came when a friend asked if I would join an awesome group of women in tech for Christmas Tea at The Ritz. While it wasn’t something I had planned in advance, I was beyond happy that I had appropriate attire – e.g a dress. Take a look at the gorgeous interior and decor and you will see why.
The Christmas Market in Bath
Over the weekend, I ventured outside of London with a friend to check out the Christmas Market in Bath. I had never been to Bath before, let alone the Christmas Market. It’s definitely worth a visit, although I will say that it was beyond crowded, likely due to the sunny weather. Next time, I would try to go during the weekday, or just as the market opens.
An Indulgent Meal in Covent Garden
Diet be damned was the theme one night in Covent Garden. After taking in the Christmas tree and decor in the market, we wandered over to Meatmarket, an incredibly delicious yet decadent restaurant with a few locations around London that serves burgers, wings, mac ‘n’ cheese, and more. Definitely worth it for a “cheat meal!”
Final Thoughts
All in all, it was fantastic to be in London once again in December. All of the festive holiday events and activities made me so excited for my upcoming move to London – and going home to celebrate Christmas with my family.
Until next time, London!
