The Weekender: Bastille Kitchen, Tremont 647 and Scenic Runs

IMG_7128Ah, what a weekend. From a new restaurant/lounge opening, to time with good friends, scenic walks, runs, cooking and baking, this weekend certainly did not disappoint. Here’s a peek into my weekend, plus a glimpse of what’s to come on The SavvyBostonian!

My weekend formerly kicked off on Thursday night with the grand opening party for Bastille Kitchen. Located at 49 Melcher Street in Fort Point Channel, Bastille Kitchen is just stunning. The interior is huge, with a modern yet rustic open floor plan. I just loved the chic upstairs and the cozy downstairs lounge space. I could absolutely see Bastille Kitchen becoming the new go-to spot for my friends.

With gorgeous weather on Friday and Saturday, I spent a ton of time outside walking and running around the city. Those that know me well know how happy a good run or stroll through the city makes me! Tip for Boston tourists: take some time to stroll down Commonwealth Ave (Comm Ave) in the Back Bay. It’s lovely and quiet compared to nearby Newbury Street and worth enjoying.

The “cooler” summer weather on Saturday made it perfect for a long run along the Charles River. I never tire of this view!

After a long run, I had worked up quite an appetite. Luckily, my friend Jessica was up for a delicious dinner at Tremont 647 in the South End. More on this meal next week, but here’s a delicious teaser!

Sunday was almost entirely focused on food (#roughlife!). I had planned to enjoy brunch with a friend and then the Cambridge Jazz Festival. Just as I was leaving for brunch, the skies opened up into a downpour which lasted for most of the morning. We still went to brunch at The Sinclair in Harvard Square, which I highly recommend. I did not snap any photos because the lighting was very dim, which is a shame because we feasted on Eggs Benedict served on jalapeno corn cakes with tasso ham and a Turkey Veggie Hash with poached eggs. Equal parts unique and delightful. Can’t wait to home back for the patio!

Later in the day, I put my energy into cooking and baking for the week. I first made a delicious oil-free cinnamon, date and almond granola and then a lightened chicken schwarma. Both turned out just perfect and will be shared on the blog shortly! Until then, here’s a little something to tempt you with….
