Highlights From The Weekend In Boston

photo-5With Mother Nature finally granting Boston some spring-like weather, it was a fantastic weekend to be out and about. Add in Bruins and Red Sox games, plus Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger and the city was positively bustling. From great runs and walks, to seeing friends and an out of town adventure, here’s how I spent my weekend.

I kicked off the weekend on Friday afternoon with a fantastic run along the Charles River. And, by fantastic, let’s just say that despite a lot of out-of-shape huffing and puffing and teary eyes due to the wind and sun glare, I finished my two mile run with a big smile on my face. At least I was able to knock out two miles while getting back into running shape! Plus, as anyone who has walked, run or biked along the Charles River knows, the people watching and beautiful scenery always have you coming back for more.

On Saturday, I woke up early to tackle my favorite bootcamp class, followed by a dentist’s appointment. Yes, seriously, my dentist does Saturday appointments one Saturday per month, which is awesome for someone who doesn’t have much free time during the work day. The other perk? Being able to enjoy a nice long walk home across the city. Although the weather was a bit sporadic with bursts of sun followed by cloudy skies, it was warm. Warm weather is such a treat after this winter!

Later in the evening I joined the fabulous Teresa of Boston Remix, a wonderful blog about Boston music, concerts and theater, at Green Street for a healthy yet hearty dinner of salads, mussels and fresh bread. Here’s a sneak peek below of our meal – more to come on The SavvyBostonian!

Sunday presented a unique opportunity to take a mini daytrip out of town up to Danvers for a Superhero themed party hosted by  a local tech company at Danvers Indoor Sports. An event for children of all ages, my friend Laura and I helped to build a superhero lair, tackled a crazy fun (and kind of challenging) inflatable tough mudder inspired bouncy house course, raced mini cars and took goofy photos. Dare I say best. Sunday. ever?
