I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing about social media best practices, specifically the companies who leverage visual content in unique ways. Much to my delight, I was offered an opportunity to submit a “Social Image of the Week,” column for Jay Baer’s blog, Convince & Convert. I also thought I would share the images I carefully curate in a monthly roundup on The SavvyBostonian with links back to Convince & Convert if you would like to read my posts.
I started the column in mid-January, so for my first monthly roundup I have two posts to share and they couldn’t be more random – The White House and the dreaded plaque talk!
My very first post for Convince & Convert came at a unique time – The Presidential Inauguration. Glued to the TV and tweeting and watching my friend’s reactions on Facebook, I noticed that The White House social media team was cleverly taking poignant quotes from the President’s inaugural address and sharing them on Facebook in real time. My second post took a very hard and possibly scary turn to Crest and the dreaded plaque talk. Crest does a great job using dynamic imagery to capture their fan’s attention in the crowded Facebook newsfeed. It can be hard to get people to proactively talk about their toothpaste on social media, so they bring their community together by developing content around everyday, relatable experiences.
