Ah, Labor Day weekend. Three days to sneak away and enjoy one last summer hurrah. While many fleed the city over the long weekend, a summer of what’s seemed like non-stop travel had me craving downtime in Boston. Though I didn’t enter the weekend with grand plans, a few unexpected twists and fantastic weather resulted in a lot of fun. From refreshing cocktails, to al fresco dining and a sailing adventure, take my weekend highlights as inspiration to enjoy your remaining warm, summer-like days in Boston.
Savor a Cheerful, Summery Cocktail
What’s the best way to savor the last days of summer? A cheerful cocktail of course! Judging from the mini Facebook/Twitter/Instagram frenzy I incited after sharing the photo of my Red Star drink from West Bridge in Kendall Square, I selected the perfect one. Pairing homemade raspberry vodka, fresh watermelon and cinnamon, the drink was refreshing without being too sweet.
Say Yes To An Impromptu Sailing Trip
There’s nothing like spending time on the water. Over Labor Day weekend, I indulged in an impromptu sailing trip from the Boston Harbor to Hull and back. When a friend calls and asks if you can be ready to go sailing within the our, there’s only one answer – yes!
So, let’s wish for a few more weekends of sunny, warm weather and good wind….ok?
Oh, and don’t forget to dress for the occasion. Just make sure your ensemble is wind friendly!
Enjoy Seafood Al Fresco….Fresh & Fried!
After a blissful day on the water, we found ourselves at The Barking Crab. Between Fish-N-Chips, a Lobster Roll, Shrimp Cocktail, Chicken Tenders and heaping portions of french fries, all I can say is yum.
Take A Long Stroll Along The Charles River
A long weekend is perfect for soaking up the sunshine and sights while strolling along the Charles River. Between people watching and capturing scenic photos, I never tire of a good, long walk along the Charles.
And, I couldn’t help but notice the first hints of fall….
All in all, it was a fantastic Labor Day weekend. I can’t wait to savor the remaining days of summer…
